DevOps Engineer
- Hybrid
- Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
Job description
Behind every meaningful connection is infrastructure that never blinks.
As our DevOps Engineer, you’ll build the systems that let teams ship fast, scale confidently, and stay secure - powering a global dating platform where reliability, performance, and trust aren’t optional, they’re essential.
Goal of the Role
The #1 goal of the role is to enable rapid, reliable product delivery by building and maintaining robust infrastructure and deployment systems that empower engineering teams to ship with confidence. You'll drive operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and continuous improvement while keeping costs optimized and systems secure.
Tech stack: AWS (EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS Aurora, ElastiCache, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, SNS/SQS), Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes/ECS, GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, Kibana, OpenSearch, RabbitMQ, MySQL (Aurora), Redis
Result Areas
1. Deliver rock-solid infrastructure that scales with growth
Build and maintain infrastructure that supports product evolution without becoming a bottleneck, ensuring 99.9%+ uptime while optimizing AWS costs. Implement infrastructure-as-code practices that make provisioning predictable and repeatable, proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks before they impact users, and drive cost optimization initiatives that maintain or improve performance.
2. Accelerate development velocity through automation
Eliminate manual toil and reduce deployment friction so engineering teams can ship features faster and more safely. Build CI/CD pipelines that enable multiple daily deployments with automated testing and rollback capabilities, automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring alerts, and operational tasks to free up engineering time, and reduce mean time to deploy from commit to production.
3. Ensure system reliability and rapid incident response
Own the observability stack and incident response processes that keep our dating platform running smoothly for users worldwide. Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting that catches issues before users report them, drive down mean time to recovery (MTTR) through improved tooling and runbooks, and lead postmortems that turn incidents into learning opportunities and preventive improvements.
4. Support microservices migration with minimal disruption
Enable the engineering team's transition from monolith to microservices through infrastructure patterns and tooling that reduce migration risks. Design and implement container orchestration and service mesh capabilities that support independent service deployments, build observability and testing frameworks that give teams confidence when extracting services, and create self-service tooling that lets teams own their services without constant DevOps intervention.
5. Strengthen security posture and compliance
Embed security into infrastructure and deployment processes, ensuring user data protection while maintaining development agility. Implement automated security scanning in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure changes, maintain and improve security controls for AWS environment and deployment processes, and support compliance requirements (GDPR, security audits) through documented, auditable infrastructure.
